Çaystube

The Çaystube, designed as a performative installation, is intended to serve as a space for experience and relaxation in the midst of the festival intensity. Since its first installation in 2019, originally created as part of Pop-Hayat, the concept has been further developed annually as a commissioned work and adapted to new circumstances and the needs of visitors.

The Çaystube programme in the Kulturbrauerei courtyard is free and open to the public, providing low-threshold access for a broad and diverse audience. As a safer space, it facilitates dialogue and interaction. In addition to its social and political demands, it presents a diverse cultural programme on stage. Of course, the çay, a symbol of hospitality and shared experience, is offered free of charge with free refills.

This year, artists EsRap, Jenys, and bangerfabrique will be performing live, complemented by DJ sets from Krista Papista and DJ Zuzanna Czebatul. The latter is also part of the project »Die Vielen«, a transnational network of various cultural institutions and artists committed to combating misanthropy, right-wing extremism, and attacks on artistic freedom. With this in mind, posters from the »Kunst bleibt viele« campaign against fascism will be on display in the Çaystube this year.
