Zuzanna Czebatul
Berlin-based, internationally recognised artist Zuzanna Czebatul is known for their progressive performance art and deconstructive sculptures that question social power structures and gender roles. At this year’s Pop-Kultur, they will present an exclusive, playful, and experimental DJ set mixing acid house and hits from the nineties. Czebatul is interested in breaking boundaries of all kinds, including in their DJ sets. Zuzanna Czebatul has been active in Berlin’s nightlife for a long time – as a raver, bouncer, and DJ. These experiences also flow into their artistic practice, which often contains references to clubbing and nightlife. Their works often thematise individual freedom and social utopias, such as the »Techno Worlds« project, for which they created a gigantic, gaudy ecstasy pill.
Zuzanna Czebatul is also part of the project »Die Vielen«, a transnational network of various cultural institutions and artists who are committed to combating misanthropy, right-wing extremism, and attacks on artistic freedom. In relation to this, posters against fascism from the »Kunst bleibt viele« campaign are hanging in the Çaystube this year.
