Zebra Katz

An icon from day one, rapper Zebra Katz has never been about unnecessary restraint. With his first single »Ima Read« in 2012, he set a benchmark for raw spoken word using powerful bass kicks and plenty of transgressive potential. Riding that energy, Ojay Morgan, the real name of the Berlin-based Jamaican-American artist, nodded heavily in the direction of voguing and ballroom culture. At the same time, he already rejected the label of »queer rapper«, a term that grouped him with Le1F and other LGBTQI* POC rappers. Instead, he simply continued to create, looking for a niche that only he can fill. Cool, almost hypothermic, sexy and dominant, Zebra Katz spits lines about dating, marginalisation and kink in equal measure. In 2020, he finally released his first full-length album »Less Is Moor«, taking his distinctive mix of compressed kicks, light wobbling and sex-positive party sounds to the next level.
