VV & The Void

People with a proclivity for echo, fuzz, and fog machines should definitely make their way to Maschinenhaus when VV & The Void are playing. Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Valentina Veil founded The Void a good ten years ago in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia. With her previous bands, 1984 and The Valentines, the artist had already earned her laurels as support for the legendary Pink Dots and Peter Murphy, and she also toured halfway around the world as a member of House of Light. Valentina’s penchant for all things gothic eventually led her and her Void bandmates to Berlin, where they immediately found their feet in the darkness of the underground. On the albums »The Upper Room« and »Celebration of the Unknown«, VV & The Void dive into atmospheric, drone-fuelled dark and cold wave, bringing to mind The Raveonettes or Dum Dum Girls. On the new record »The Cage«, Veil and her fellow musicians vary their sound, experimenting with cinematic motifs and widescreen arrangements.
