Martina Stock
Martina Stock is a visual artist and harpist. As the Berlin-based Austrian describes it, her performances mix light, sound, and technology to create a multi-dimensional Gesamtkunstwerk, with the electro-acoustic harp controlling the visual world. Stock studied in Salzburg, Krakow, and Berlin, worked as a lecturer, and gives concerts all over the world, having recently performed at the renowned Shanghai Oriental Arts Centre. She loops and warps the sound of the classical concert harp, and with her own compositions, takes strict boundaries of genre to the point of absurdity – she even covered Metallica’s »Nothing Else Matters« for a radio programme. On her latest album »Tina Marti«, Stock combines neo-classical music with electronic beats, resulting in dynamic moments of trance and dance. Tradition and avant-garde are not opposites for her, but rather they interact and converge – a perfect fit for the interdisciplinary PANDA platforma in the Kulturbrauerei.
