His hair is slightly blown by the wind, he has one hand loosely on the hilt of the sword and looks into the camera.

Jaakko Eino Kalevi

In a previous life, Jaakko Eino Kalevi worked as a tram driver in his home town of Helsinki. For one thing, a wonderful reminder that even proletarians can still dream of having a big pop career. It’s also a great relief for all Helsinkians that he no longer has this job, because it’s hard to imagine how Kalevi came up with the ideas for his abysmal dream-pop songs while working. Kalevi has long since swapped Helsinki for Berlin and most recently moved to Greece, although his live band still carries a connection to his Berlin years, with drummer Jannis Kleiß aka Garagen Uwe (who presented a Commissioned Work at Pop-Kultur last year with »Ergo Line«) providing a proper beat for Jaakko Eino Kalevi’s electro-funk.
