Evija Vēbere

If Björk and aliens were to team up, their joint venture would result in Evija Vēbere. This is something we are firmly convinced of, but we are even more confident in her exceptional abilities as a musician – which is why we had previously invited her to contribute a video work to the 2020 pandemic edition of the festival. This year, we are all the happier to finally be able to welcome Evija Vēbere live and in colour. On her two albums so far, 2018’s »Sirdsbūt« and 2021’s »KĀ«, and even more so at her concerts, Vēbere creates elegant dreamworlds that span electrified experimental sounds, detuned instruments, hip-hop vibes, and industrial soundscapes. Trained as a classical jazz singer, the Latvian artist lets her voice sizzle and sneak around the offbeats, whispering and singing angelic harmonies.
