Rachael Lavelle
Ireland is especially good at melancholia. And humour, too. Rachael Lavelle skilfully combines both on her debut full-length »Big Dreams«, released last autumn. Like a concept album, it tells the story in beautiful Irish English of a young woman’s coming of age as she searches for the meaning of life, or at least of her life in a very, very strange world. Sometimes with an angelic voice, other times guided by restrained spoken word, the music shifts from ambient to rave, avant-pop, and wild experimentation. Rachael Lavelle has quickly achieved must-see status with her live show, replete with spectacular lighting and stage presence – incidentally, Pop-Kultur discovered her at Irish Music Week – promising nothing less than an impressive concert experience for her set at Maschinenhaus.
