Ilgen-Nur

Ilgen-Nur is responsible for one of the best pop records of 2023, »It’s All Happening«, which has also marked a turning point in the indie singer-songwriter’s career. And it happened like this: Following the release of her acclaimed debut album »Power Nap«, she was invited to the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, in 2020. Then came the lockdown and Ilgen was stranded with friends in Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles, quickly falling in love with the area, including its people and atmosphere. Shortly thereafter, she returned to L.A. for a residency at the Villa Aurora and began working on new songs. The songs written in California sound unmistakably like Ilgen-Nur while also showing influences from the sun-drenched West Coast sound of the sixties and seventies. Her concert at Palais is Ilgen-Nur’s third appearance at Pop-Kultur: in 2017 she presented her first EP »No Emotions«, and in 2019 she wowed the audience with her feminist performance »Live Through This«, which was created exclusively as a Commissioned Work for the festival.
