Together with the music department of the Goethe-Institut, the Pop-Kultur Festival launched a new initiative in 2025. Titled »Sonic Crossings«, the project highlights contemporary pop musical practices from a selected region each year. For its second edition, musicians from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will be invited to Berlin for a short residency in August 2026.

The programme aims to foster artistic exchange with Berlin’s local music scene and create new creative connections. Alongside the residency, the participating artists will be presented as part of the Pop-Kultur Festival through concerts, listening sessions and discussion formats.

»Sonic Crossings« is a collaboration between Pop-Kultur Festival, the music department of the Goethe-Institut.
