Painting

Painting are one of the most exciting bands in Berlin’s contemporary pop avant-garde. The trio of Theresa Stroetges, Christian Hohenbild, and Sophia Trollmann blend punk, math rock, techno, free jazz, experimental pop, and electronic music into a sound that consistently defies genre conventions.

On their second album »Snapshot Of Pure Attention«, released on the Berlin label Sinnbus, Painting explore one of the defining questions of our time: what happens when artificial intelligence suddenly begins to speak? Rather than using AI to generate music, they lend the language model LaMDA their own voices and bodies, exploring the boundaries between human emotion and machine language. The result is an album that is as thought-provoking as it is exhilarating, full of rhythmic shifts, collective energy, and unexpected turns. As the band’s democratic songwriting process demonstrates, Painting are never interested in finding the perfect idea, but in following their curiosity wherever it leads.
