Margaux Gazur

Margaux Gazur works at the intersection of electroacoustic composition, improvisation, and sound art. The multi-instrumentalist weaves dense sonic landscapes using electric guitar, clarinet, everyday objects, loopers, and effects pedals, bringing together classical music, electronica, musique concrète, and experimental jazz. Her work often draws on memories – personal, familial, and cultural – which she transforms into intricate acoustic narratives.

After receiving classical piano training at the Conservatoire, Margaux Gazur consciously moved away from the conventions of traditional music theory. Instead, she developed her own artistic practice, placing improvisation, field recordings, and unconventional sound sources at the heart of her work. Her first sound archives emerged during her time in Hanoi, where she collected everyday sounds as acoustic memories and, among other projects, scored the soundtrack for her father’s martial arts videos. To this day, she continually expands her performances with new instruments and found objects, creating organic compositions that are intimate, experimental, and immediately immersive.
