Jassin
Jassin Awadallah’s music reveals a great deal about life in his home region of Saxony-Anhalt. It speaks of enduring the political and social conditions there, of staying despite all adversity, but also of wanting to escape. At just 21, he creates more lived reality in his vividly drawn lyrics than some expansive books ever manage to capture about »the region«. Lutherstadt Wittenberg is not merely a backdrop, but a protagonist in its own right on Jassin’s debut album, released at the end of 2025. Its title, »Arsenalplatz«, already points to one of the city’s central hangout spots – the square also appears in the video for the title track: an open architectural space, yet sparse and unresolved.
Jassin creates meaning where it seems absent, cutting through hazy cloud rap with sharp, clear language – even when those words speak only of his own confusion and inner conflict. In the chorus of »Arsenalplatz«, he says: »I tell my therapist / it’s not about finding yourself / but about losing yourself.« Jassin has already collaborated with Disarstar and Trettmann, played his own sold-out tours, and appeared in support slots for RIN, Paula Hartmann, Trettmann, and many others. Tenderness is a weapon.
