Sonic Crossings: Concerts and community space hosted by Mehfil

Together with food collective Mehfil, »Sonic Crossings« invites you into an open community space bringing together artists, Berlin communities and festival visitors. Shared food, tea and conversation create a space for encounter and cultural exchange – and a starting point for new connections between Central Asia and Berlin. Mehfil, a community food collective based in Berlin and Lahore, sees eating together as a social and cultural practice. Through creative pop-ups, culinary collaborations, art and music, the collective creates spaces centred on community, hospitality and dialogue.

The evening is hosted by Kazakh DJ and curator Dina Nurpeissova and Uzbek cultural worker Amina Alish. Together, they welcome the audience, introduce the artistic perspectives behind the programme, and guide visitors through the evening’s concerts.

The programme begins at 4 pm with shared food, tea and playful activities such as chess. From 7.30 pm, »Sonic Crossings« residency artists Laylo, alystadyn and Samrattama take to the stage.

The concerts offer a glimpse into the diverse contemporary music landscapes of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan – from experimental electronics and improvised sonic exploration to genre-crossing musical narratives. »Sonic Crossings« is conceived as a platform for artistic exchange, international connection and new perspectives on pop music beyond national borders.
