Live, Sunday, 30.8.2026, 19:30–20:10, Pierre Boulez Saal
Out-of-focus branches with red blossoms run across the foreground. Behind them, two people stand among plants. On the left is Robert Lippok wearing glasses and dark clothing. On the right is Anushka Chkheidze in a dark red top. In the background, more plants and parts of a building are visible.

Sometimes those transnational ideas of collaboration that so often remain theoretical do, in fact, come to life. The collaboration between Georgian musician Anushka Chkheidze and German musician Robert Lippok is one such rare case: organically grown, open in process, and sonically distinct.

The two first met in Tbilisi in 2019 during a workshop centred on the idea of a »plug-in« architecture: modular sound structures designed to be endlessly recombined. In retrospect, it reads almost like a blueprint for the way they work together today. Traditional roles quickly dissolved, leaving behind an artistic exchange grounded in mutuality and shared curiosity.

What emerges from this collaboration resists easy categorisation by design. Somewhere between indietronic references, krautrock expanses and near-sacral ambient spaces, their sound unfolds less as a finished result than as an ongoing search. At its core is a way of working that follows no external logic: in the studio, often wordlessly, time and space condense into a state of focused presence.

Differences – whether biographical, cultural or generational – are not foregrounded but productively dissolved. The result is a sonic space that feels at once fragile and urgent, minimal yet expansive. Or, as Anushka Chkheidze herself puts it: it is always only about the music. A sentiment captured on their Morr Music album »Uncontrollable Thoughts«.

Anushka Chkheidze previously performed at Pop-Kultur in 2022 as part of the Goethe Talents emerging artist programme, where she first connected with the agency she continues to work with today.
