Alystadyn

Moving effortlessly between electronic composition, improvised sonic exploration, and cinematic atmospheres, Alystadyn inhabit the spaces of postmodern music production where genre boundaries have long ceased to matter. Behind the Kazakhstan-based project are Saida Dyussenova and Arseniy Startsev, who have developed a musical language in Almaty that brings together sound design, jazz, ambient, and experimental electronics into open, ever-evolving sonic landscapes.

Rather than treating music as a finished work, Alystadyn approach composition as an ongoing process. Their live performances therefore emerge from the interplay between fixed song structures and improvisation.

In 2024, the duo took part in the Batyr Lab Residency, which resulted in the EP »DYN« – a delicate yet atmospheric meditation on memory and temporality. A year later, they composed the score for the television series »Munai«, whose soundtrack, led by the title track »MUNAI«, attracted attention far beyond the series itself. The compositions explore themes of inner erosion, the psychological consequences of ambition and alienation, lending the images a distinctive blend of beauty and unease.
