Zainab Lax has been playing the harp since she was seven years old. With roots in Germany, Turkey, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, the instrumentalist has always found music helpful in her search for identity. Now she wants to share this experience with others, on the road in her van as a freelance artist and music therapist, empowering people with experience as refugees with musical opportunities. And, of course, to play herself. Accordingly, she has broadened her skills, specialising in the Indian sarod and the Iranian tar, among other instruments. In her inspiring loop performances, however, what remains in the forefront is the harp. Through her dreamy sounds, Zainab Lax likes to improvise and create a feeling of home. No matter where it’s located.
