The KVB
Hard to believe, but The KVB are celebrating their 14th anniversary this year. Founded as a one-man band by Nicholas Wood, one year later the British project doubled in size with the addition of Kat Day. The result was reverb-heavy shoegaze with an unabashed nod to psychedelic rock, while the motorik beat and electronic synthwave influences provided the necessary danceable factor. What was already a safe bet in 2016, when The KVB last took the Pop-Kultur stage, has audibly evolved in the eight years since: Still unafraid of gloomy moods and happy to dress in all-black (that hasn’t changed), their albums »Only Now Forever« (2018), »Unity« (2021), and »Artifacts« (2023) are proof of their drive to conquer new shores. This year’s LP »Tremors« sometimes approaches the euphoria of Primal Scream at their best, at other times remains more introverted in their exploration of the boundaries of psychedelia.
