Testcard – Rechtspop: Über rechtsradikale Memes und rechte Frauen in der Popkultur
taz journalist Julian Weber commented on the publication of the current »Rechtspop« issue of Testcard magazine by Mainz publishing house Ventil: »Lots of stones are being turned over.« Two of the stone-turners are on stage at Pop-Kultur:
Especially in Germany, Veronika Kracher has been an authority for years on the machinations of the alt-right, masculinist, and incel scenes. She always offers knowledgeable commentary based on extensive, exhaustive research on the codes and symbols of the new right-wing (internet) scenes. »Just for the Lulz« is the title of the magazine article that she will be presenting here.
Viola Nordsieck – along with Tim Kegler – has looked at the role of right-wing women in pop culture. In »Weiche Formen, Harte Worte«, she traces the various role models and constructs of identity for female Nazis, revealing the necessity of this gendered division of labour for the (neo-)fascist world view.
Hosting the talk will be Ariana Zustra (Musikexpress, kaput – Magazin für Insolvenz & Pop).
The talk will be interpreted live in German Sign Language.
