Row Zero: Gewalt und Machtmissbrauch in der Musikindustrie Lesung & Talk mit Lena Kampf und Daniel Drepper (de)
In their book »Row Zero: Gewalt und Machtmissbrauch in der Musikindustrie« (»Row Zero: Violence and Abuse of Power in the Music Industry«), Daniel Drepper (head of the research cooperation between NDR, WDR, and SZ) and Lena Kampf (deputy head of the SZ Investigative Research department) document the continuous discrimination of women at every level of the music industry based on over 200 interviews.
The authors aim to reveal the origins of these structures marked by sexualised violence, and they raise the question how such a male-dominated industry could develop in which women do not seem to be welcome, are viewed as sex objects, and are often the victims of violence. The book makes it clear that the recent allegations against Rammstein singer Till Lindemann are just one of many frightening examples. The fact that women today are increasingly talking about their experiences is a glimmer of hope that this book also makes clear – as are the dangerous consequences of being a fan.
Kampf and Drepper will read from their book and, in a discussion moderated by Pop-Kultur co-curator and Music Women* Germany board member Pamela Owusu-Brenyah, will answer questions from the audience.
This panel is organised in cooperation with the umbrella organisation Music Women* Germany.
