Priya Ragu

From St. Gallen to the world: as a child, Swiss-Tamil musician Priya Ragu was part of her father’s band, which played traditional Tamil music. As an adult, she moved to New York to work on her own music, which she then produced mostly via Skype with her brother, who stayed back in Switzerland. Her debut mixtape »damnshetamil« was released in 2021, becoming a hit thanks to songs like »Chicken Lemon Rice« and »Good Love 2.0«. Her unique mix of pop harmonies, danceable nineties R&B vibes and traditional Tamil elements have been particularly popular in the UK as well as India with its sizable Tamil communities. Her album »Santhosam«, released last year, is a tasty continuation of her story.
