»Menstruation hört auf einem Festival nicht auf«
The talk »Menstruation hört auf einem Festival nicht auf« (»Menstruation doesn’t stop at a festival«) discusses why menstruation is still a taboo subject in many areas of society, including festival culture.
How can it be that menstruation is barely considered at festivals, rarely taken into account when planning the sanitary facilities? This discussion will feature queer-feminist cultural worker Rike van Kleef, menstruation activist and sexual health-focussed journalist Franka Frei, and agricultural scientist Katharina Müller, whose work with Finizio Future Sanitation GmbH is dedicated to transforming sanitation and nutrition. Also participating is Lena Olvedi, the founder of MISSOIR, the long overdue, environmentally friendly squat urinal for people with vaginas.
Various solutions will be discussed during this talk: For example, could free feminine hygiene products be provided? In general, how can we all bring this taboo subject into the public eye? Great questions with answers long overdue!
This panel has been initiated by LiveKomm’s Festivalkombinat task force.
