Klapping: »Everything is a little bit of a dance«
»Klapping« is more than a performance – it’s a collective movement experience. Developed by Ahilan Ratnamohan, the format blends urban dance styles with football gestures, ritualised body language and fan culture. No ball, but full of energy – a choreographed game that blurs the lines between sport, pop and performance.
At its heart is community – the audience is invited to become part of the Klappsquad: through movement, breath, sound and presence. Spectators become participants; the performance turns into a shared ritual.
This presentation also marks the launch of this year’s Çaystube programme. The Çaystube is an open space for dialogue, inclusion and cultural closeness. What begins there over a glass of çay finds its physical counterpart in »Klapping«: a space for connection, participation and shared experience – beyond language or social barriers.
The project Çaystube is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media and the DFB Cultural Foundation (Klapping).
