»Hey QT – A Talk about Performance, Art and Cultural Institutions within Pop Culture« (En)
In recent years, cultural institutions have been making noticeable efforts to promote queerness and diversity – but what does that mean? What do social realities and queer perspectives mean in art and culture? And what support do these artists need from their surroundings?
Under the title »Hey QT«, artist and musician Hayden Dunham, musician and performer Tama Gucci and performer and composer Colin Self take a look at these identities and affiliations in their art. This artist talk on performance, queerness, technology and the future will be hosted by curator and writer Isabel Parkes, who has worked with internationally established artists.
Hyd aka Hayden Dunham used to perform as a kind of mysterious avatar called QT, collaborating with the likes of SOPHIE and A.G. Cook. Hailing from Miami, Tama Gucci now lives in New York, where he has become a fixture in the city’s burgeoning queer underground scene with pop covers that have gone viral. Colin Self lives and works in Berlin and explores themes of gender, communication, and consciousness. Their work centers music, musical theater, opera, and performance art with Self using technical means to explore the cyborg-like existence of humans.
Can pop music be a form of caring? This talk will address this and other questions.
