Actually, everything’s already been done in terms of guitar music. But Avery Tucker and Harmony Tividad had something new to add. Over the past seven years, the Los Angeles residents have breathed new life into every style and every manner of playing, from power-pop to fuzzy slacker-rock to electronic sounds, under the name Girlpool. For their digital work at Pop-Kultur, however, they have pared down to the essentials: two guitars, two voices, one story of desire. Their audiovisual piece interprets the song »Faultline« with coarse-grained images that rethink the equally intimate and confrontational lyrics in a dusty setting, allowing the duo to literally run in circles. And of course there is guitar playing, in what is actually a conventional yet extraordinarily intimate way.
