Freak de l’Afrique: »Afro x Beats x Berlin« (De)
In this talk by the Freak de l’Afrique collective, some leading figures of Berlin’s Afro scene come together to discuss the current state of music on the African continent and the interpretation of its associated dance cultures in Berlin. Where in Berlin’s cultural landscape is the scene situated? What makes it so special for those involved? How and why did Freak de l’Afrique come into being? What conflicts have shaped the collective? What successes has it celebrated? What are its collective visions of the future? What obstacles have Freak de l’Afrique overcome? And why have they actually made a musical? DJ Nomi, dancer Bella Garcia and organiser Aziz Sarr answer these questions before the two-part, 90-minute musical »Wena! J.A.M.E.« will be performed in a special version for Pop-Kultur.
