Eden Derso

Things were different the last time Eden Derso was on the Pop-Kultur programme: summer 2020, global pandemic, travel bans, no vaccine and so on. Instead of live shows, there were pre-produced digital works. This year, though, the self-proclaimed youngest Israeli-Ethiopian MC can rock the stage in all her IRL glory. Be sure you know what you’re getting yourself into, warns the artist herself: »They expect me to come out sounding like Beyoncé, but I’m more like Tupac.« The Californian poster boy of gangsta rap has been a favourite of Eden’s since she was a teen, and she couldn’t get the rapper, who was taken from us too soon, out of her head while she was doing her military service. Now she’s full-speed ahead, partying and writing bars of her own. Her latest single »Burkhs Bzrikhh« (»Runs Away in the Sun«) promises a life-affirming twist with summer-hit potential.
