The Berlin association CSV AFRISKO is opening up its vaults to share visual treasures from its history. AFRISKO stands for AFRika Sport- und KulturOrganisation – a non-profit association founded in Berlin in 2008 that merged with the 125-year-old traditional Berlin club Charlottenburger SV in 2022 to form CSV AFRISKO. As a sports organisation under the name of 1. FC AFRISKO, AFRISKO was the first fully-fledged member of a German sports association comprising people of African descent. As a cultural organisation under the name of AFRISKO DISKO, it was the first association to link athletic pop culture with African-influenced party pop culture. For Pop-Kultur, CSV AFRISKO has created a special interactive exhibition with analogue and digital photos and videos, a bar, talks and DJ sets. The Berlin-based association, initiated by people from the African diaspora, has grown into an innovative cultural alliance. And it’s still growing. The association now wants to share this spirit over the festival’s three days.
