Anthony Hüseyin
MOVED FROM ÇAYSTUBE TO ALTE KANTINE
NEW TIME: 9:00-9:40pm
Anthony Hüseyin is a fluid, constantly changing non-binary arist. Born in conservative Urfa and raised in Istanbul, Hüseyin gave up his Turkish passport to avoid serving in the army, instead earning a master’s degree in vocal jazz in the Netherlands. Following the outbreak of the Gezi protests in 2013, Anthony Hüseyin first addressed the prevailing social and political injustices in Turkey through music. Sometimes melancholic, sometimes jazzy, their songs combine house, techno and nu-disco with Türk Sanat Müzigi (Turkish Art Music). Anthony Hüseyin pays homage to the great pop star Zeki Müren, who lived an openly queer life, telling of their own artistic and personal quest as a queer person.
