Andreya Casablanca: »Somebody’s sins, but not mine«
Polish Christmas carols, church hymns, incense, and Silesian aesthetics – from these fragments of memory, Andreya Casablanca creates a 30-minute performance oscillating between Catholic ritual, familial estrangement, and a musical search for home. Monologues, projections, and a stage set with a sacred atmosphere guide us through a childhood shaped by altar cloths and table linens, between Silesia and a southern German city. The stage becomes a personal mass – a space that reflects, demystifies, and questions the authority of Catholic norms. These structures are dismantled, recontextualised, and artistically transformed. Musically, Casablanca blends dark pop, distorted indie, and experimental sound design. Works by Górecki, Trebunie-Tutki, and »Maria durch ein Dornwald ging« are reinterpreted – alongside the premiere of her own original compositions.
