Five, white people look into the camera. The band Aksak Maboul is spread out on and around a bench with a backrest. The blond woman on the left sits on the bench, her legs crossed. To her right, behind the bench, is a black-haired woman, next to whom a man is sitting on the bench again. Among other things, he is wearing a blue shirt and two different coloured socks (red and blue). Next to him, a man sits on the back of the bench and puts his feet on the seat. At the left end of the bench, the oldest of the three men is also sitting on the backrest, with one leg on the floor and the other also resting on the seat.

Aksak Maboul

»Onze Danses Pour Combattre La Migraine« (»Eleven Dances for Combatting Migraine«) was the service-oriented title of the Belgian avant-garde pop project Aksak Maboul, which was already experimenting in different genres in 1977 and anticipated many musical developments of the eighties. Finally, after several years and last year’s cancellation due to illness, we’ve managed to bring the band to Berlin. Mastermind Marc Hollander, who also runs the legendary Belgian label Crammed Discs, will also be featured in a talk and give a workshop in our Nachwuchs programme. Live, Aksak Maboul are a family affair: along with his wife Véronique Vincent, singer of the most influential Belgian band The Honeymoon Killers, Marc Hollander composed the double album »Figures«, whose songs have meanwhile been remixed by The Notwist or Cate Le Bon. Together they create an irresistible mix of electronica, atmospheric pop, crude jazz and modern classical.
