AGAT & Grimsøn (Co-Creation Residency: Tel Aviv — Berlin)

Two musicians, one collaboration: As part of the Tel Aviv – Berlin Co-Creation Residency, a Berlin-based and a Tel Aviv-based artist come together to create a joint production. In this case, the collaboration takes place during the Tel Aviv artist’s stay in Berlin.
The results of this artistic exchange will be presented live for the first time at Pop-Kultur – the festival of Musicboard Berlin.
The residency is a collaboration between Musicboard Berlin and Jonathan Lipitz, operator of the Kuli Alma club in Tel Aviv, and fosters transcultural exchange across roughly 4,000 kilometres and two continents.

The sound of Tel Aviv–based musician and producer AGAT moves between dark hip-hop, fractured electronica, and post-industrial fragments – not so much as an aesthetic gesture, but as an attempt to sonically capture a present that defies all order. Her music is both intimate and confrontational – shaped by a sense for poetic compression and a talent for translating emotional unrest into controlled chaos. AGAT dissects contemporary life with precision, reflecting on social roleplay in digital spaces, and questioning consumption as a form of identity. Her tracks feel less like traditional songs and more like essays in beat form. Her debut album »With The Incrowd« powerfully embodies this approach – an acoustic intervention against false belonging. The tracks traverse shadowy synthscapes, noisy breaks – they whisper and then erupt.

Grimsøn is the darkly imaginative music and animation project of 22-year-old Swedish-American artist Aiden Berglund. He began in New York’s underground scene with melancholic indie folk, before relocating to Berlin, where he developed a baroque-tinged gothic rock sound through a distinctly Tim Burton-inspired lens. Drawing on influences from Heatmiser, Radiohead, and black midi, his songs drift between lilting, Beatles-esque melodies and a sense of psychedelic unease.
Berglund is entirely self-directed – from sound to his lush, eerie animations (seen in work for Weyes Blood, José González, and Sharon Van Etten) – creating a world of woolly beasts and ghostly-dreamy landscapes. After viral Tiktoks and over a million streams, he is now building toward his debut album, teasing tracks like »I Made My Therapist Cry Today«, while expanding his animated universe alongside a live band featuring high-profile musicians from the Berlin scene.
